Join us from 11:00 am on Friday, 28 August 2026, for a three-hour SAPEPAA Strategy Session examining the latest legal developments and emerging strategies relevant to succession, asset protection and estate planning advisers.
Grant Abbott will be joined by special guest speaker Ellen Grant, a tax lawyer and member of the LightYear Legal team. Together, they will explore recent legal developments, their practical implications and the strategies advisers should be considering for their clients.
A key highlight will be an in-depth discussion of Caldwell v Caldwell, including the issues raised by the case and its potential significance for advisers working with family wealth, trust and estate-planning structures.
Grant will also discuss SAPEPAA’s submission to Treasury in response to the Minimum Tax on Discretionary Trusts Consultation Paper. He will explain the concerns raised by Treasury’s proposed hybrid taxation model and SAPEPAA’s recommended alternative for the entity-level taxation of discretionary trusts.
